Each human,
Born traumatized
Into a world
Of rape, murder, and lies

Death and pain
Inevitable
Fear and weight
Unlevitable

From birth
Running from the pain
Searching for comfort
Searching for change

Could it be purposeful?
Could it be wise?
Or is it worthless?
Cries just for cries.

What cruelty would it be
To place you and me
In a place where the more we seek
Is glimpsed only in fleeting peeks?

We seek love.
We seek perfection.
We seek life.
We seek protection.

Were we made for more than this?
Is there a reality that’s truly bliss?
Or should we say our last goodbyes?
Accept our fate, never to rise

From the ashes.

Is there something on the other side?
Does good prevail? Or does evil hide

In the ashes?

I cannot but hope.
I cannot but dream
For release from this prison,
From tragedy’s scene.

I believe I was made
For something more

Than the ashes.
