    Truth approaches from deep without
    And touches deep within
    Faint at first
    And then

    It grows larger and larger
    Beyond a feeling
    Beyond intellect
    Beyond words and ideas

    It soars higher and higher
    Beyond our reach
    Beyond our grasp
    We inch upon its ladder

    We move higher and higher
Farther than we once believed existed
Farther than our imaginations could take us
On a trail few would dare go down

    We are carried infinitely higher
Yet, we are still too low
Our feelings, our thoughts, our ideas
    Still too base

    Glimpses of greatness
    Flash in the night
They point toward the great One
    They point toward the Light

    Leaving the ground
    We climb
    Eyes set on high
    Yet not yet on Highest

    We climb
    The ground growing smaller
    The light shining brighter
    Yet not yet at brightest

The light is not the Light
The truth is not the Truth
The way is not the Way
Our ascent will not stop until we see the Top

The path, although growing more like the Path, is not the Path
    Let us not forget this
For the moment we become satisfied with the life as opposed to the Life, we will cease to climb
    Infinitely higher

    Words cannot capture
    The fullness I’m after
Neither knowledge nor intellect will do
    To prove the indescribable true

    Pictures are but metaphors
    Knocking on the door
    Experience, a helpful guide
A dim light in darkness wide

But what I say I know is true
    More true than logic
    Truth only sensed
    Not quite grasped

We may come nearer, but not inside
We may approach, but not lay hold
We are limited creatures exploring the limitless
Our abilities will take us only so far

    Unseen are the deepest depths
    The deeper the more true
    Alas, we are but human
    Humans with a view

The greatest love surrounds us all
We could only miss it if we tried
To stop trying is to see it
To see it is to come alive

It’s the love for which all lovers long
To which every love song points
    Oh, make it mine!
    This love divine

    This love moves the world
    It cradles every creature
    All else is imitation
    A futile striving for elation

True love is not between a boy and girl
Not between a man and the world
    All loves allude
    But none conclude

    A Father and a Son
    Becoming absolutely one
    Revealing to the world
The love that sustains us all

    One will, one way,
    One life, one love
    The two are one
    The self is none

    No words can capture
    The fullness I am after
If I were to explain it all
It would cease to be what I call

    Love

    May I have this dance?
    I don’t dance.
    May I have this dance?
    I’ll give it a chance.

    I fear failure.
    I fear defeat.
    Just close your eyes.
    Listen to the beat.

    The people are staring.
    The people are laughing.
    Who says that their way
Is the right way of acting?

I don’t know all the steps.
I don’t know all the timing.
That’s why I’m in the lead.
This is my mountain you’re climbing.

    It feels like a mountain.
    I don’t have the strength.
    We’re not relying on you
    As much as you think.

    Where ought I go?
    What ought I do?
    Lean into me.
    Let me lead you.

    What if in leaning,
    I fall to the ground?
    ‘Tis better to fall
Than to stand safe and sound.

    I’m dizzy from twirling
    And spinning in place.
    Forget all the twirling.
    Stare into my face.

    What ought I be doing?
    There’s got to be more.
    Just dance with me.
    That’s your one chore.

    May I have this dance?
    I don’t dance.
    May I have this dance?
    I’ll give it a chance.
